These wheels or disks of spinning energy each correspond to certain nerve bundles and major organs. To function at their best, your chakras need to stay open, or balanced. If they get blocked, you may experience physical or emotional symptoms related to a particular chakra. There are seven main chakras that run along your spine. They start at the root, or base, of your spine and extend to the crown of your head. The chakra system refers to the energy centers we have in our bodies. There are seven major chakras, each in a specific location along your spine. The chakras are the energy centers of your body that some traditions and sources believe to regulate your physical, emotional, and spiritual health. According to these beliefs, there are seven main chakras, each corresponding to a different element and aspect of your being. **The first chakra, or the root chakra, is located at the base of your spine. It is associated with the element of earth and represents your connection to the physical world, your survival, and your stability. **The second chakra, or the sacral chakra, is located below your navel. It is associated with the element of water and represents your creativity, sexuality, and emotions. **The third chakra, or the solar plexus chakra, is located above your navel. It is associated with the element of fire and represents your personal power, confidence, and willpower. **The fourth chakra, or the heart chakra, is located at the center of your chest. It is associated with the element of air and represents your love, compassion, and harmony. **The fifth chakra, or the throat chakra, is located at your throat. It is associated with the element of ether and represents your communication, expression, and truth. **The sixth chakra, or the third eye chakra, is located between your eyebrows.
